1. First, cleanse and condition with your favorite Aveda shampoo and conditioner—such as Color Conserve shampoo and conditioner if you have colored-treated hair.
2. Prep hair by spraying on Brilliant Damage Control to help protect from thermal damage and reduce breakage; comb through.
3. Apply Phomollient Styling Foam to add light hold and weightless volume; again, comb through to distribute evenly.
4. Use a blow-dryer with a nozzle attachment set at high heat and high speed to pre-dry hair and remove excess moisture.
5. Blow-dry at the roots with an Aveda Paddle Brush using Antoinette Beenders’ Flat-Wrap Technique. First, brush hair tightly against the scalp toward the right while blow-drying at the roots. Then, go back and dry roots in the opposite direction. Dry hair in small sections—the width of your brush.
6. Dry hair from mid-length to ends by placing the brush underneath, pulling the hair taut and moving toward the ends while blow-drying from above. Repeat for every section until all hair is straight and dry
7. To finish, emulsify Light Elements Defining Whip in hands and stroke over hair to add separation and texture with medium hold. Add more Defining Whip as needed to piece hair and achieve desired definition.
