Video: How to use Aveda products to make coarse hair smooth and straight
Filed Under: How To
1. Start with Smooth Infusion Shampoo and Conditioner to set the stage for really straight hair.
2. Prep hair with 3 to 4 pumps of Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother to help smooth and protect from humidity and heat styling. Comb through to distribute evenly.
3. Separate hair into front and back sections. Emulsify Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener in hands; apply more in back where hair is thicker and less in front. Apply from roots-to-ends for coarse hair or mid-length to ends for finer hair. Comb through hair to distribute evenly. Glossing Straightener adds all-day straightness and shine.
4. Set blow-dryer on high heat and pre-dry with a nozzle attachment facing downward until 70% dry.
5. For best results, separate hair into sections and clip.
6. Blow-dry at the roots with a round brush using Antoinette Beenders’ Flat-Wrap Technique. First, brush hair tightly against the scalp toward the right while blow-drying at the roots. Then, go back and dry roots in the opposite direction. Dry hair in small sections—the width of your brush.
7. Dry hair from mid-length to ends by placing the brush underneath, pulling the hair taut and moving toward the ends while blow-drying from above. Repeat for every section until all hair is straight.
8. To straighten hairline, use a fine tooth comb to pull hair down as you blow-dry.
9. For best results, section hair and pull through a ceramic flat-iron from mid-length to ends.
10. Finish hair by applying Light Elements Smoothing Fluid to fight frizz and flyaways.
